looking for the best behind-the-neck headphones
I usually keep my research methods in check, but today I’m going to tell you about my thought process.
why?
You deserve to know the things I kept in mind when choosing the products I’ve recommended.
Take features as a good example. If I’m going to spend my hard-earned money on a neckband headset, my final choice has to include the best features.
so I look at things like whether or not it has fast charging, its bluetooth range, the price, how well it works, other reviewers’ opinions, and whether or not it’s comfortable to use.
In addition to all the incredible positives of a particular behind-the-neck headset, I also tend to focus on the possible negatives.
I consider things like:
- is the cable too short?
- is the bass too soft?
- is the treble rough and harsh?
- the overall sound is poor quality?
- is the neckband too bulky?
As you can see, I take many things into consideration before evaluating a product and deciding if it passes the test for possible review.
why?
I just want to tell my readers about the best behind-the-neck headphones and nothing else. anything else is not worth my time or yours.

one of the best behind the neck headphones is the bose quietcontrol 30 wireless noise canceling headphones. bluetooth and amp; NFC pairing makes wireless connections simple and easy. the lithium-ion battery offers up to 10 hours of listening time.
Not everyone can afford to spend that much, so here are nine great options that cover different price ranges.
best behind-the-neck headphones in 2022
1. roomyroc wireless neckband headphones
Are you an active person who listens to music for long periods of time? then roomyroc headphones will be perfect for you because they are comfortable and provide stable, high quality sound and crystal clear audio for everyone to enjoy.
✔️ What we like: high fidelity stereo sound, long battery life, smart voice navigation
❌ what we don’t like: made of rigid plastic that tends to break within six months
Feature highlights:
- neckband designed for maximum comfort
- easy to answer phone calls
- battery lasts 12-16 hours
- uses the latest noise cancellation technology
- clear sound for music and audiobooks
I really appreciate the long battery life available when using the roomyroc wireless neckband. I tend to travel a lot when I use public transport and the 12 to 16 hours of battery life means I could listen to an entire audiobook in one sitting if I’m taking a long flight or spending hours on the bus every day.
The noise cancellation technology is also an amazing feature that you can’t help but love. with other neckband headphones, you will have a lot of background noise in your ears which will simply ruin the listening experience. this neckband headphone does a great job of blocking out the vast majority of unwanted noise.
so you can talk on the phone, listen to music, or listen to your favorite audiobook or podcast without annoying sounds fading into the background.
On a more negative note, the plastic used to create the roomyroc wireless neckband headphones isn’t very flexible. some dissatisfied users had the unfortunate problem of splitting their headphones in half after about 6 months of use. while this doesn’t happen to everyone, it has happened to some reviewers, so it was worth noting.
2. lg ringtone style hbs-sl5 – great value
The LG Tone Style HBS-SL5 Neckband is a great choice for anyone looking for the best behind-the-neck headphones. incorporates three-dimensional audio, clear treble, rich bass, and 8 hours of battery life into an excellent listening and talking experience.
✔️ What we like: 3D audio, fast charging option, dual microphones and vibration alert
❌ what we don’t like: connecting to bluetooth devices requires several attempts before connecting
Feature highlights:
- 3D meridian audio
- fully equipped with bluetooth 5.0
- fast charge capabilities in 10 minutes
- typical battery life of 8 hours
- earcups retract for extra protection
The ever-reliable LG Tone-style wireless neckband has a host of great features, including fast charging, retractable earbuds, and is superbly designed. it’s also a steal right now under $50, which is pretty much a steal since it used to sell for around $100 about a year ago.
Fast charging capability is what you love most about this neckband headset. If you forget to charge it the night before you go on a long car or bus trip, you can plug it in for 10 minutes and gain three hours of power to help you kill the boredom of sitting for long hours with nothing to do. do. but even better, you get a total of 8 hours of playtime after plugging it in for a full charge. so you never have to worry about running out of power because it charges so fast.
Bluetooth connectivity leaves a lot to be desired, unfortunately. Some reviewers weren’t too impressed because it took 3-5 tries before they were able to connect to their other bluetooth devices. While it’s a bit annoying at times, it certainly shouldn’t be a deal breaker for a device as high quality as the LG HBS-SL5 Ringtone Style.
3. bose quietcontrol 30 wireless headphones

I have to say I’ve been very impressed with the sound quality of the bose quietcontrol 30 wireless headphones. it’s uniquely styled, it only weighs about 2 ounces so it’s relatively light and has adjustable noise cancellation control, channel mix options and a rugged but attractive case.
✔️ what we like: innovative noise-canceling control technology, noise-rejecting dual microphone system
❌ What we don’t like: Poor quality rubber coating that peels off after three months of regular use.
Feature highlights:
- Full control noise canceling function
- long life lithium-ion battery
- approximately 2 ounce lightweight neckband
- 10m bluetooth range</li
- nfc and bluetooth wireless pairing
there are some features that really stand out in the qc 30 that make this device incredibly convenient. but the best overall feature is the ability to gain full control over the noise cancellation technology.
do you like when the background noise is totally silent while listening to music or your favorite podcast? you’ll love its noise cancellation feature because you can completely eliminate all possible background noise with the push of a button.
At the same time, if you’re listening to something and need to hear your kids playing in the background, you can adjust the noise canceling function to let some background noise into your awareness.
It has a volume optimization equalizer which is perfect because the audio is completely balanced. You won’t have to worry about hearing very loud audio in your left ear while it’s virtually silent in your right ear. the balance function completely eliminates this problem, so it’s not a problem.
The outside of the neckband has a protective rubber coating. this coating was not optimally designed to say the least. it tends to come off after using the headphones for an extended period of time over a period of three months or more. While the Bose QuietControl 30 Wireless Headphones will lose some of their appeal, they will still work perfectly even if the rubber coating peels off after a while.
4. samsung u flex wireless earphones
The Samsung U Flex Wireless Neckband is currently the talk of the town because it’s affordable, flexible and foldable, creates crystal clear sound, uses 3.5mm headphone connectivity, and utilizes the latest Bluetooth 4.2 technology. it’s also easy to fix, simple when it comes to adjusting the volume, and quite affordable.
✔️ What we like: 8-hour battery life, clear microphone and speaker sound, and flexible design
❌ what we don’t like: weird design and not as flexible as expected
Feature highlights:
- 8 hours of battery life per charge
- flexible and foldable bluetooth neckband
- bluetooth 4.2
- simple volume control on headphones
- rich audio during calls and listening sessions
The great thing about the samsung u flex earphones is that you can practically take it with you wherever you need to go without it getting in your way. they created this design with a flexible body, so you can literally fold it up and put it in your pocket if you don’t feel like leaving it hanging around your neck. It’s small, compact, and lightweight, making it easy to take with you wherever you plan to go.
The audio quality is second to none. Bass is strong and powerful, resonating from the tiny speakers, but it also delivers crystal-clear highs, and you can enjoy your music at the highest volumes without losing superior sound performance.
Comes with three sets of ear gels, so you won’t have a problem finding the perfect size for your ear canals. It has a micro USB charging cable for fast charging capabilities on the go. and advanced bluetooth makes it very easy to connect to all bluetooth enabled devices.
The only potential negative is the weird design. this neckband is oddly shaped and one reviewer found it a bit awkward. This was just a minor complaint out of the thousands of positive reviews for the samsung u flex wireless earphones, but it seemed like something I should mention.
5. sennheiser hd1 wireless headphones
The Sennheiser HD1 Wireless Headset combines futuristic audio, comfortable design, stylish features and long battery life to create an attractive and stable headset for your listening and talking pleasure. you’ll appreciate its great wireless range thanks to bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and you’ll be able to charge it for an hour and a half and get 10 hours of full battery life.
✔️ What we like: Faster charging for 10 hours of battery life and sleek design
❌ what we don’t like: difficult to pair with other bluetooth devices
Feature highlights:
- sleek look and design
- wears comfortably around the neck
- multi-connect bluetooth capability for two devices
- 2 year warranty from authorized dealer
- compatible with bluetooth 4.1 and aac codec
I really appreciate the HD1 earbuds for their beautiful design, long-lasting 10-hour battery life, and excellent long-range Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity capabilities. i can leave my phone across the room and still listen to lucid audio coming from my bluetooth headset without thinking about static. and even at that range, the audio won’t cut out and will annoy me endlessly and ruin my listening experience.
More specifically, I love the ergonomic design because comfort is something I always keep in mind when buying a headset of this nature. They use soft sheepskin on the neckband, which makes it very comfortable to wear and hardly noticeable. other devices that incorporate too much plastic are cumbersome and too bulky, but this model is not one of them.
Finally, it bears repeating that one or two reviewers had difficulty pairing the sennheiser hd1 wireless headphones with their phones. no one likes having to try to pair their device over and over again before it finally works. so you should be aware of this because it is a potential problem that could happen to you.
6. bose soundsport wireless headphones: best overall
bosesoundsport wireless headphones were designed with workout performance in mind. this neckband can take grueling punishment and still keep going, while staying firmly in place on your ears as you run, jump, bounce, and rock back and forth.
✔️ What we like: IPX4-rated sweat-resistant, NFC pairing, and 6-hour battery life
❌ what we don’t like: the product no longer held its load after a year
Feature highlights:
- wireless bluetooth and nfc pairing
- earbuds stay comfortably in place
- ipx4 weather and sweat resistance
- 4 colors to choose</li
- bose active eq balanced audio
There’s a lot to love about the Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones, including the impressive EQ volume controls. There’s a remote control built right into the headset that makes it easy to adjust the volume, change tracks on your mp3 player, and pause or play your favorite songs. The convenience of this feature is wonderful because you can access your audio files without turning on your phone or listening device.
Bluetooth pairing is also quite interesting with this device. Believe it or not, it has voice prompts that help pair one or more devices. the prompts will direct you to the next steps to take to achieve fast and effective connectivity. other devices make it very difficult to pair your headphones with bluetooth-enabled smartphones and mp3 audio players.
I can’t get enough of these headphones because of their design specs. they created them using exclusive stay here technology that prevents the headphones from falling off my head during a particularly tough workout. I can get my heart rate up and my body moving and still have my headphones stay firmly in place.
The only issue is potential longevity issues. one reviewer claimed that his headphones no longer charged after a year. while this never happened to me personally, it did happen to someone, so it’s definitely worth repeating and keeping this information in mind.
If you’re going to spend $100 on a new bose soundsport wireless headphone, you need to know all the facts.
7. amorno foldable wireless neckband – cheapest
amorno wireless foldable headphones can make you stand up and give this device a round of applause. it’s pretty easy on the eardrums with deep bass, crisp highs, and a noticeable mic that gets the job done with ease.
✔️ what we like: comfortable to wear around the neck and easy to store fold away
See also: Top 9 Ways to Fix iPad Stuck in Headphone Mode
❌ What we don’t like: Faulty earpiece retraction and lack of noise cancellation function
Feature highlights:
- wireless neckband with retractable earphones
- folds easily for convenient storage
- lightweight design provides maximum comfort
- sound top-tier hi-fi stereo
- 10-12 hours of battery life
You’ll love these wireless neckband headphones for many reasons, but you’ll especially appreciate the long battery life for talking and listening. in fact, if you fully charge the battery, you can listen to mp3s and youtube videos for 10 hours before the battery runs out. if you keep the battery strictly for talking, it will last about 12 hours before it finally runs out.
In addition to the amazing battery, you’ll also appreciate the vibration reminder feature that makes everything super easy and convenient. how is that? The headset will instantly start vibrating as soon as you receive a phone call. so you can press the button on the side of the device and answer the phone instantly if you want. or you can look at your device and screen your calls by pressing the button to ignore it. having this option is always a nice perk, as you’ll soon see.
The headset retraction function was faulty for a couple of reviewers. After a while, one or more of the earbuds would no longer retract into the Amorno Foldable Wireless Neckband. while it was certainly a bit disappointing, it didn’t happen to everyone, so it’s not like this is a buggy feature that happens all the time. only a few people complained about it.
8. wireless beatsx headphones
If you crave high-quality wireless headphones that are compatible with both Android and iOS devices, then you should look no further than BeatsX Wireless Headphones. In addition to their incredible compatibility, they come fully equipped with a fuel battery fast-charging feature that provides two hours of power after a five-minute charge, a convenient flex-shape cable, and the remote talk cable that makes it easy to Activate Siri, take control of your music and answer phone calls with maximum comfort.
✔️ what we like: fully compatible with android and ios devices, high performance earbuds
❌ What we don’t like: Sometimes they slip off the wearer’s ears
Feature highlights:
- 4 size options of ear tips
- lightning to usb-a charging cable
- 8 hours of battery life
- remote talk music, talk, and siri controls
- flex cable
The beatsx wireless headphones provide hours of enjoyment while you make a quick call, listen to your favorite songs and audio shows, or use siri or google to search the internet through voice activation. this headset offers an authentic experience, vibrant sounds and a long battery life.
In fact, after a full charge, the battery will last approximately 8 hours before it finally runs out. but there is an extra special fast fuel function that provides an additional two hours of battery life in a matter of five minutes. just plug in the charger for five minutes and you’ll recharge your headphones for another two hours, which is great when you’re going on long trips or need a quick charge before your daily commute.
having ios and android compatibility is also always a great extra touch. Sometimes wireless headphones only work for one type of device or another. It’s much better to have both options in case you decide to switch from iPhone to Samsung one day or vice versa. you won’t need to spend another hundred bucks to get another great headset because your device will work for both phone operating systems.
beatsx wireless earphones slip out of your ears from time to time, especially when you exercise. you may prefer to wear these headphones only while lying still because they work better that way.
9. roundabouts & wilkins p13 behind the neck headphones
roundabouts & Wilkins P13 is a personal favorite when it comes to behind-the-neck headphones. they have a sleek, small design, but the audio is also powerful with more drivers and longer battery life.✔ What we like: Portable, lightweight, and easy to carry
❌ what we don’t like: background buzzing
👌 feature highlights:
- 8 hours of battery life
- ip67 water resistance
- fully comfortable neckband
- clear and concise audio
- silicone and rubber material
there are many reasons to appreciate bowers & wilkins p13 as you are about to learn, but one of my favorites is the crystal clear microphone. When you speak into the microphone, the people on the other end will hear your voice clearly, since it is perfectly transmitted by radio waves.
The general construction is also a big plus in my opinion. They made this earpiece out of rubber and silicone, which means it fits easily around your neck and maintains the perfect shape. and the rubber ensures that the neckband doesn’t fly off the back of your neck while jogging, running, or participating in any other type of sport or physical activity.
on the other hand, one reviewer was very upset because he said the neckband had a constant buzzing sound in the background. As you can imagine, a persistent buzzing noise can become very annoying and distracting when you’re trying to listen to music or your latest audiobook. If this happens to you, contact the manufacturer to see if they will send you a replacement because it is an obvious defect.
After all, I’m a big fan of bowers & wilkins p13 because the audio is crystal clear and it’s made with the latest dynamic drivers. it’s packed with advanced technology, the battery lasts 8 hours, and the microphone is perfectly clear and audible to the people on the other end of the conversation.
