top 7 nintendo switch gaming headset 2022 reviews
1 hyperx alpha cloud
hyperx is similar to brands like razer or logitech, specializing in creating great gaming gear for serious gamers. each company offers different variants of gaming gear, from premium to inexpensive.
Size-wise, for a gaming headset, the Alpha Cloud is a bit smaller. also, its design is less flashy and more subdued than many of its competitors.
The frame is made of aluminum and provides stability. while the ear cups are soft and comfortable and wrapped with a matte finish vinyl. however, as with all vinyl pads, you can expect some additional warmth, but not so much that it becomes uncomfortable.
In terms of durability, all parts of the headset are removable, so easy maintenance and long-term use are basically guaranteed. the microphone, cable and earphones are easily replaced if necessary. but sadly hyperx doesn’t include a couple of extra ear pads in the box.
Whether you’re watching netflix or youtube, playing games or just listening to your favorite music, the headphones will always deliver amazing sound quality.
It also offers great noise isolation, and the daily hustle and bustle of life won’t creep into these headphones. therefore, people passing by, conversing, or doors opening and closing will not be a distraction. Also, surprisingly, these headphones don’t make a lot of noise, which is great if you’re shooting zombies while your other half is sleeping.
the microphone almost sounds good. and the microphone suffers from the common problem with budget headphones, in that people with deeper voices may find their voices sound different.

2 custom beyerdynamic gaming headsets
when beyerdynamic decides to make a set of gaming headphones, they’re not gaming.
custom set includes six headphone covers, a detachable boom mic and a 1.6 meter cable in the box. and it’s great to see the company provide extra pads with purchase, since that’s the first thing you usually need to replace.
beyerdynamic has designed this gaming headset in the same way as any of its other high-quality headsets, ie with the utmost care and attention to detail. they are comfortable and provide enough space inside the cushion for your ears to breathe. while the metal headband grips tight enough to ensure a stable and comfortable fit, even when wearing glasses.
The headphones feature large adjustable sliders at the bottom. these control the amount of external noise you would like to let in. and being a closed design, opening the slider will allow a lot of outside noise in, therefore mimicking the sound of an open pair of headphones. open-back headphones have pros and cons, and this system gives you the best of both worlds.
these provide a well-balanced sound that is suitable for any audio. so unlike some gaming headsets, you can enjoy streaming movies, listening to music/podcasts and playing games with the same headset. this is especially good considering the price. so if you’re on a budget and just want a pair of headphones, this is a great option.
If you close the slider all the way, you’ll find that the headphones will provide excellent isolation and give the bass frequencies extra flavor. this is great for listening to music or watching movies. or open the slider and you get all the effects of a pair of open back headphones. and you’ll get excellent spatial awareness due to excellent sound staging and won’t experience listening fatigue due to air circulating around your ears.
The boom microphone is ideal for isolating your voice and blocking out ambient noise. it’s also flexible, making it easy to adjust.

3 arctis 1 headphones from the steel series
The steelseries arctis 1 is a beast in the price range, trading blows with headsets costing twice as much. And the biggest draw here is not just the PS4 and Xbox compatibility, but the fact that it’s also compatible with the Nintendo Switch. which, at this point, still doesn’t have much wireless headphone support.
Headphones are made primarily of plastic, with a vinyl-wrapped foam headband and air knitted cushions common to steel series products.

The cushions are super soft and stay cool, even during long mid-day gaming sessions. The headband is also soft and doesn’t squeeze so tightly that it’s uncomfortable, but it provides enough grip that the headset never slips off on its own.
The only problem is the headphones themselves. they’re a bit shallow, so if you have large ears, you may experience some discomfort.
The boom microphone is adjustable and stable. while the two provided dongles, one usb-c and one usb-a, give you unlimited support. works on all consoles, even switch!
stereo sound is excellent and there is good separation. not as good as a decent pair of surround sound headphones, but forgiving in this price range.
frequencies are well balanced and put some of the more premium headphones to shame. this means that when you play, you will not find anything that sounds louder than it should. gunshots and explosions will sound as loud as they should, just like the rest of the game.
It also means that when you’re in voice chat, in-game sounds won’t interrupt or be louder than the person you’re talking to. the mic also sounds good and is discord certified.
insulation is average; knit pads do not provide as much insulation as vinyl pads.
the headset is charged via micro-usb and lasted us just over 22 hours.
4 bengoo g9000
bengoo makes affordable headsets for gamers on tight budgets. It doesn’t match the kind of quality you’ll get from steelseries or turtle beach, but why would you expect that at this price anyway?
the g9000 is actually a great headset and we were blown away.
On offer here is a classic gaming design, all plastic, with very comfortable memory foam ear cushions. the earpads are comfortable for hours and never felt uncomfortable while gaming. The headset even has non-customizable LED lights for that extra gamer street cred.
40mm drivers sound good for gaming. bass is boosted, like most gaming headsets, and causes a bit of audio masking. when an npc is speaking with music playing in the background, we find that the voices struggle to cut through the loud instruments.
However, if you’re playing an fps game, you won’t have a problem hearing footsteps or gunshots. the stereo sounds good, and we never had a problem hearing which direction the action was coming from. however, the sound profile means music and movies don’t sound as good.
the microphone is decent. retractable mic sounds good when quiet, but struggles to isolate your voice in noisy environments.
good sound and price outweigh many of the negatives. a flimsy design and an average mic come with the price tag. At this price, Bengoo offers a very good pair of cans.
5 razer kraken x ultralight
The Razer Kraken X Ultralight is a very affordable headset that offers all the gaming essentials without any of the extra bells and whistles.
The headphones are made of polycarbonate-abs, which is a very durable plastic. this makes them light and very comfortable to wear, even with glasses. the ear cushions are made of memory foam, but are not replaceable.
An in-line controller is not included, and the volume dial and mute button are built into the left earcup.
However, the headphones come with great-sounding 40mm drivers that offer great spatial awareness. therefore, you will never wonder where the enemy is shooting from with these on their head. they also have 7.1 surround sound, but that’s only compatible with pc.
The headset puts an emphasis on bass, like most gaming headsets, and delivers amazing-sounding explosions and gunshots. voices are also boosted, making cutscenes very immersive and easy to understand. but some of the higher-end frequencies experience some audio masking, meaning they’re not the best for listening to music.
The microphone is very loud and offers clear voices. there is some ambient noise heard, but nothing that hampers the microphone’s performance too much. it’s a great boom mic considering the headphone price range.
6 audio-technica ath-anc7b quietpoint
The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B Quietpoint is the most expensive pair of headphones on this list. however, they are still very affordable for a pair of anc headphones.

The company redesigned the new version and improved both the build quality and the anc quality. what you get now is a really great pair of headphones at a very reasonable price.
The ear cushions are generously padded and very comfortable. they are wrapped with vinyl, which gets a bit warm after a while. the sleek matte black is great to touch and feels premium. the headphones are well built and feel strong, but are still lightweight.
headphones sound great, as expected from audio-technica. you get very well balanced sound from the 40mm drivers. the bass sounds tight and controlled. the mids are clear, with the vocals cutting through the instrumentation nicely. the highs sound bright and have ample room to breathe due to the great sound staging.
The good thing is that all of this translates well to movies and games as well. With a great soundstage, the games sound surreal and you can feel the atmosphere when you explore fields, caves or forests.
fps games like fortnite provide stellar examples of the great sound staging found in these headsets. identifying where steps are coming from has never been easier.
active noise cancellation means you won’t even be bothered by airplane engines.
7 recognition of turtle beach years 70
If you’re on a tight budget, the Turtle Beach Recon 70 ticks all the boxes at a very low price. the full plastic body provides more than enough support and a perfect fit. while the ear cushions are decent at this price and are comfortable enough for longer gaming sessions.
yeah, it feels cheap, that’s because it is. but, if budget is an issue or you always lose things, that’s fine.
Games sound great on headphones even with decent staging. turtle beach added some 40mm drivers that sound good at 70 recognition. voices sound good and are separated enough from the game’s music and sound effects.
The mic works pretty well, especially if you’re playing alone in your room. if it gets a little loud, the mic starts to pick up a lot of the extra noise and works hard to isolate your voice.
The sound profile doesn’t sound great with movies and music either. the drivers are heavy on the bass and a lot of the mids and highs sound completely washed out.
The rigid plastic design gets uncomfortable after about three hours, but considering the switch’s battery doesn’t last much longer than that, you should be fine. therefore, it works best for gaming on the go or traveling shorter distances.
works on the switch via a 3.5mm jack. and you will find some variations; these are mostly cosmetic changes.
